Purpose

This document allows the establishment of a Bill Of Materials.

Prerequisites

This document provides the facility for the initial creation or editing of a Bill of Materials. However, this document does use Product Master Records and these can be established via the Stock - Account document.

Context

This document allows the user to establish of a Bill Of Materials product. A Bill of Materials is a fundamental concept in the LILAC environment. A Bill of Materials is a listing of components, parts, and other items needed to manufacture a product, showing the quantity of each required to produce each end item. Also called a product structure record, formula, recipe, or ingredients list. 

A Bill of Materials can be a component product of another Bill of Materials. This type of dependency can only go 10 levels deep though.

Field Enterable? Instructions
Product Code Yes Type in the product’s key (or click the right mouse button) and select the key from the list.
Product Description Yes Displays the short description of the product. This can be overtyped if required. This line will be used to describe the product on Purchase - Orders, Sales - Orders, etc.
From Product Yes Type in the product’s key (or click the right mouse button) and select the key from the list. This is the product that the Bill of Materials will be copied from when the user clicks the Copy button.
Selling Price 1 Yes Type in the selling price.
Standard Cost Yes Type in the standard cost. This is updated to be the Working Cost when the user click the Update button. 
Working Cost No Displays the current cost of the goods in the Bill of Materials.

Items Yes Type in how many items of this product are used to make the Bill of Materials product.
Product Yes Type in the component product’s key (or click the right mouse button) and select the key from the list.
Product Description Yes Displays the short description of the product. This can be overtyped if required.
Quantity No Displays the quantity of this product used to make up the Bill of Materials product.
Unit Yes Type in the unit of measurement.
Standard Cost Yes Type in the standard cost.
Selling Price1 Yes Type in the selling price.
Extension Yes Displays the value of the line. This is the Quantity * Standard Cost.

Transaction Processing

Button Description
Update Clicking the Update button will update the Standard Cost of the Bill of Materials product.
Copy! Clicking the Copy! button will copy the lines of the From Product Bill of Materials to this Bill of Materials.  
Erase! Clicking the Erase! button will cause the Bill of Materials component products to be erased. Therefore the product will be a "normal" product. The Product Master Record is not erased.

Once a Bill of Materials Product is established in the LILAC database, you can do many things. For example, you can  purchase in, or sell out the product.
