LILAC Remote Client with Dynamic DNS
LILAC Servers which are properly routed to the Internet either directly, or with NAT/PAT mapping in the gateway router, will communicate with Lennox Computer's Dynamic DNS server at lilac.lennox.com.au
The LILAC server sends its particulars including its externally visible IP address to the dynamic DNS server, so that a remote client computer may interrogate lilac.lennox.com.au to find out the IP address of it's LILAC server, even if that IP address changes frequently (e.g. allocated afresh by and ISP every time a DSL router connects).
To utilise the dynamic DNS facility on a remote client computer proceed as follows
| 1 | Download & Install the LILAC Remote Client package from http://www.lennox.com.au |
| 2 | Create a shortcut on the desktop, or
preferably in the Start button menus with the following command line: c:\lilac3\gtl.exe RemoteClient.gtl username!s00 The start in folder of the shortcut should be C:\lilac3 |
| where username is the windows login
user name on the LILAC server under which action is running, and s00
is the computer name of the LILAC server. To reduce the possibility of ambiguity, the historical practise of naming LILAC servers S00 will be replaced by the use of more meaningful names which identify the enterprise. For example lilac-server.lennox.com.au |
