Introduction to LILAC3

LILAC is a very powerful commercial application software package for a wide range of commercial, industrial, manufacturing, construction and contracting enterprises.

LILAC is an Internet Client/Server architecture software product. This means that (potentially) a LILAC3 client program can run on any computer in the world that is connected to the Internet, and communicate with a LILAC 3 Server process on any other Internet host computer.

Keyboard & Mouse Conventions

Use the left mouse button to select from the Windows menu bar, and pull down menus, and to position the keyboard caret in any LILAC 3 document field. Use the right mouse button for efficient invocation of the LILAC 3 search engine by clicking on any pale blue field.

Use the arrow keys, the Enter key and the Tab key to navigate around a document as randomly as desired. The Tab key is best suited to horizontal movement and the Enter key for vertical progress down a document. When a data entry document is completed to your satisfaction click the left mouse button on the Action button to invoke the next natural phase of processing.

You should endeavour to obtain a full understanding of the operation of Windows scroll bars, both horizontal and vertical as soon as possible. LILAC 3 WYSIWYG document based data-entry makes extensive use of the scrolling as you navigate around the documents. Consult your Microsoft Windows manuals and/or help files for guidance on standard window components such as menus, borders, scroll bars, buttons, dialog boxes, etc.

Legend

Blue fields (both dark and light) are Key fields.  The Dark Blue field permits the creation of a new key in the data base.  The Light Blue field allows access to a predefined key (a previously set up key).  In either blue field use the F12 Key or click with the Right mouse button. This will display a search window of all relevant keys in the data base.  eg:  Debtors will show Debtor Keys.

Yellow fields denotes a data entry field.

White fields are inaccessible.

Zoom view

The Zoom facility can be used to reduce or enlarge your view of the document at any stage.

To achieve this, click (with the left mouse button) on the Zoom menu and select the percentage setting you require.

Use the Zoom menu to select a percentage of Zoom that is the best compromise between legibility and maximum coverage of the documents page to suit the capabilities of your monitor and the video resolution in force. A minimum of 800x600 pixels is recommended with at least 16-bit colour.
